A new Picocomputer 6502 game jam is open, inviting developers to make games for a real 65C02-based machine—and letting anyone enter without owning the hardware. Entries must run in the browser on itch.io, while the same games can run on a self-built RP6502-PICO.
In his 6-minute announcement video, published on 9 October 2026, Rumbledethumps walks through the project’s documentation and development setup. The footage shows a game running alongside source code and a hardware debugger, a useful glimpse of the tooling behind this 8-bit platform.
The jam accepts games written in C, 6502 assembly or Microsoft BASIC. The official rules and entry page set the deadline at 30 October and say beginners are welcome. For retro-computing tinkerers, the noteworthy part is that the emulator removes the hardware barrier: you can learn the platform and submit a playable game before building a board.
