Chris Edwards Restoration has put the Checkmate IPS retro display through a hands-on session with an Amiga. Published on 9 October 2026, the 36-minute video shows the monitor in a real retro-computing setup rather than relying on product renders.
Edwards works through the display without its instructions, then shows an Amiga desktop on screen and discusses his impressions of the image and built-in speakers. He subsequently noted that he had received the digital manual. That makes this a useful first-look demonstration, not a measured review of latency, scaling or signal compatibility.
For Amiga owners considering a modern screen, the interesting part is seeing the display alongside original hardware and watching the setup process. Watch The Checkmate IPS Retro Display! on YouTube for the full demonstration and Edwards’s own assessment.
