Dual-Pentium 133 board boots Windows XP in necroware test

Windows XP on a dual-Pentium 133 motherboard is an unlikely pairing, but necroware has made it boot. In a video published on 30 October 2026, the repair-focused creator returns to a revived Asus PCI/I-P54NP4D board and tests how Microsoft’s later operating system behaves on this mid-1990s hardware.

The footage shows the board being assembled with cooling, storage and expansion cards before XP reaches its familiar desktop. Task Manager displays two CPU history graphs, and the video moves from setup into hands-on use, including built-in games. That makes this more than a compatibility claim: it is a visible, if deliberately impractical, demonstration of an old multiprocessor PC running software from a later era.

The appeal is in the boundary between restoration and experimentation. Reviving the motherboard is one achievement; getting a usable XP session from two 133 MHz Pentiums shows what the platform can still do, while also making its performance limits part of the story. Watch necroware’s 27-minute video for the complete build and test.
