A portable atomic clock needs more than a precise oscillator: it also needs power that survives the trip. In a new 44-minute restoration video published on 30 October, CuriousMarc repairs an HP K02-5060 standby supply and connects it to an atomic-clock setup.
The team works through the battery and charging circuits, including troublesome switching contacts, then tests the supply with the clock. The video shows the system running from battery power as well as external power. That matters because the supply is part of what made a “flying clock” practical: a frequency standard could travel without losing its power source.
This is a bench restoration, not a claim that the whole transportable clock system is finished. CuriousMarc describes it as one step closer, with more work still ahead. Watch the original video for the circuit walkthrough and the live tests.
