An Atari XL/XE accelerator is more useful when it can coexist with the rest of a working machine. In a 43-minute hands-on video published on 24 October 2026, flashjazzcat installs and tests Antonia 2, a CPU accelerator and RAM upgrade, in an Atari 8-bit system.

The video goes beyond a board reveal: it shows installation difficulties, the accelerator’s on-screen setup menu, and tests involving SpartaDOS X, IDE Plus 2.0, SIDE3, games and demos. The setup screen exposes choices for CPU speed, extended RAM and VBXE/FX, making the interesting question how this upgrade behaves alongside existing Atari expansions and software. The creator also discusses compatibility, installation effort and value; those are observations from this particular setup, not a blanket guarantee for every XL/XE configuration.
